  1. This patcher will update SAM (Symantec Anti-Virus for Macintosh) 4.0 through 4.0.7.  The new version is 4.0.8. Note that this patch program only works on Macintosh computers running System 7.0 or above. The patcher may prompt you to locate these files:

  15. You can click 'Skip' if you are prompted for a file that is not installed (e.g, Sam Intercept and SAM Intercept Jr will not be installed at the same time) or if you have no desire to update it at this time.

  19. Please see the SAM 4.0 Read Me file for information on what has been changed in this version.

  21. The patcher does not update the SAM 4.0 Read Me file in the SAM Folder. You should copy the new SAM 4.0 Read Me from the SAM 4.0.8 Patcher folder to ensure you have the latest version.

  23. If you have Suspicious Activity monitoring enabled, numerous Suspicious Activity alerts will appear when you run the patch program. This is normal and you can click 'Allow' to continue.

  25. You cannot apply this patch to the files on your SAM Install diskettes.  Changing anything on these diskettes will cause the Installer to not work properly. Only update installed copies of SAM.

  27. If you changed the name of any file (e.g., to change the load order of SAM Intercept) from its original name it will be changed back.

  29. File creation dates are not updated. If you are accustomed to checking the version of the SAM Virus Definitions by using Finder, you will not see the correct date. To obtain the correct version of the SAM Virus Definitions look at the splash screen during launch of SAM or the Edit Virus Definitions dialog box within the SAM application.
